Sprint registrations must be made by April 12, 2023. The TYPO3 Documentation Team will then book the hotel and cover the costs for travel, accommodation and meals.
Members of the TYPO3, phpDocumentor, Doctrine and Symfony documentation teams are working on a new, stable version of reST Parser and Renderer that integrates both forks.
The documentation of TYPO3 Core and many extensions has been based on reStructuredText (reST) for more than ten years. However, the parsing and rendering of reST is still done with the Python-based tool Sphinx. This has several shortcomings: Python developers are notoriously scarce, unlike those of PHP. And the rendering has become slower and slower over the years because the pipeline has grown historically. It is in dire need of an overhaul. Both Symfony and Doctrine base their documentation on reST and face similar challenges. At the Symfony conference in Paris in October 2022, the idea finally came up to join forces for a common infrastructure.
