The Prototype Fund is the first low-threshold funding program for independent developers and small teams developing innovative open source software.
It offers tech-savvy civil society access to the resources and processes needed to get involved in the development of user-centered, innovative software projects for society. The super-friendly support team also provides funding recipients with coaching, advice and networking opportunities.
Between 2016 and 2024, almost 400 projects were funded, with the supporting team also constantly optimizing itself. The funding phases from 2025 onwards will focus on the funding priorities of Data security and Software infrastructure. New: the maximum funding amount for 6 has been increased depending on the team size, and the duration can now also be 10 months.
